Job Description
The Moncreiffs Winery is a 10,000T contract winemaking facility located in Nagambie, within the Central Victorian growing region. Affiliated with Tahbilk Estate, Ozpak and McPherson Wines, Moncreiffs is unashamedly modern, we make everything in large batches and the winery itself is streamlined to be a slick, efficient operating facility.

We are currently recruiting a Cellar Manager who will be responsible for the day to day operations of the winery. Being a pivotal member of the team, the Cellar Manager works directly alongside the Winemaking Team to ensure that work is completed in a timely manner and in accordance with SOP’s.

With a focus on quality, the role requires a hands on attitude, with cellar work as required. More importantly, the role requires a team oriented approach whereby training and development of staff is critical to the overall success of the business.
Job Requirements
Extensive practical experience in winery operations and procedures is a prerequisite.

Responsibilities:
• Ability to train and take responsibility for work group quality and productivity outcomes
• Good organizational skills with methodical work habits
• The ability to work safely within a winery environment
• Physically fit
• The ability to work extended hours and shifts during peak periods (vintage)
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Mechanical aptitude and problem solving abilities
• Working knowledge of winemaking procedures and quality control systems
• Liaise with staff regarding rosters and ensure that adequate staff numbers are trained in operations
• Experience in supervising workers and working within a team environment (12 permanent Cellar Hands and up to 10 casuals during vintage)
• Train cellar staff in the performance of cellar activities, ensuring that SOP’s are followed
• Facilitation and coordination of plant and machinery repairs and maintenance
• Ensure that all winery sanitation practices, inclusive of but not limited to general aesthetics, operational activities and storage facilities are adhered to
• Write, revise, and update SOP’s and risk assessments as required
• Maintain knowledge and understanding of hazardous material and safety procedures and assure adherence by all staff
• Ensure proper use, maintenance, and storage of all cellar equipment
• Promote teamwork amongst all winery personnel
• Be involved in continual improvement processes
• Provide input into OH&S and be involved in the OH&S working group committee.
• Knowledge of OH&S requirements and issues within the winery environment
• Current Fork Lift license
• Current Victorian Drivers license (or equivalent)
• Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency

As the ideal candidate, you will have more than five years recent experience within the wine industry at a minimum Cellar Supervisor level and have a working knowledge of all winery equipment.
