Job Description
Balgownie Estate Vineyard was originally planted in 1969. Today we have 30 hectares under vine which includes the original plantings from 1969. We make a wide range of wines including Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Viognier and more. We are seeking a committed and motivated trainee Wine Maker who will learn all the facets of Winemaking on the job. This role will be on a Part Time Basis (3 days per week) It is envisaged that the position will work full time hours over vintage.

You will be trained in all aspects of winemaking including the following:
• Wine transfers and use of all winery pumps
• Barrel work including racking, cleaning and maintenance
• Cleaning operations in regards all winery tanks, equipment and the winery environs
• Working in a safe manner according to OHS rules
• Standard laboratory testing and analysis including fining and blending
• Preparation and addition of yeast cultures and all required wine additives
• Wine assessment
• Forklift work and warehouse work.
• Operation and maintenance of all winery vintage equipment
• Data entry into the winery record system via the EZY wine system.
• Stocktaking as required.

Job Requirements
To be successful you will:
• Be studying winemaking and or have recently completed a degree
• Have a high level of attention to detail
• Have some wine tasting experience of quality of wines
• Have experience working on a farm
• Obtain a high risk forklift license
• Be able to work well within a team
• Be reliable, a great listener and be willing to learn
• Be prepared to work in Cellar Door or in other aspects of the wine business as required
