Job Description
Timmering Wines is located near Rochester in the acclaimed Heathcote GI. At 110ha, it is already the largest privately-owned vineyard in this region. Extensive further plantings are planned. Long-established customers for Timmering’s high quality grapes include some of Australia’s leading family wine companies.

This is a career opportunity for a keen, hands-on individual to manage this vineyard and its growth. We would also gladly consider applicants with basic vineyard experience who are ambitious to advance their career under mentorship and with employer support to acquire greater management experience, skills and possibly, a formal viticulture qualification.

Reporting to the owner, and supported by an assistant vineyard operator, and a consultant Vineyard Advisor, you will be responsible for personally implementing all vineyard operations. Key requirements of this position include:

• Development and implementation of the annual vineyard operating plan in collaboration with the company’s Viticulture Advisor.
• Through leadership and example, effectively manage and inspire an established team of casual staff.
• Liaise with the owner to effectively manage and implement the annual vineyard operations budget.
• Maintain, adapt and develop timely, seasonally-specific fruit quality, disease and weather contingency strategies to meet grape quality and production goals.
• Through these and other strategies, maximise the quality and brand potential of the site.
• Effectively liaise with grape customers to ensure a cohesive team approach to achieving the company’s goals.
• Oversee, maintain and implement all relevant operational and HR, OH&S, procedural and legal compliance requirements, (both internal and external).

Job Requirements
The successful candidate will require:

• At least 2 years’ experience in a hands-on vineyard operations role
• A sound, practical understanding of agricultural machinery
• Good people management, leadership and communication skills
• A systematic approach with problem-solving skills across all vineyard operations
• A budget conscious and results driven approach.
• A passion to innovate, improve and succeed.
• Good leadership, motivation and people management skills.
• The ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively with management and staff.

This is a role which offers the potential for further career growth. An attractive salary package, plus appropriate relocation costs if appropriate, and the benefits outlined above will be offered to the right individual.
