Job Description

Vintage Assistant Winemaker
We anticipate that the successful candidates will hold a tertiary qualification in Oenology with proven industry experience. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about wine, self-motivated, who possess leadership skills, and are able to work effectively within a small but tight knit team. Any experience in using a wine database would be looked on favourably.
These hands-on positions involve working closely with the winemakers through all aspects of the winemaking process.
Preference will be given to someone possessing previous experience and expertise in supervising/managing a team of cellar workers, preferably in a multi-client winery setting.

Cellar Hands
Cellar Hands will be involved with vintage operations including:
Fruit receival crushing & pressing, additions, transfers and racking, barrel work, pump overs, cleaning and sanitation operations
Job Requirements
Vintage Assistant Winemaker
Supervises all cellar functions including but not limited to grape receiving/grape processing operations at harvest, blending, racking, sanitation, barrel procedures and barrel maintenance, pre-bottling preparations such as fining and filtration, equipment maintenance, and forklift operations
• Experience in laboratory techniques and procedures
• Conduct analyses and identify any abnormalities or results requiring action
• Operates forklift and all winery processing equipment
• Directs the work of the cellar crew in all activities of winemaking. Schedules and tracks workflow
• Monitors performance of cellar crew ensuring cellar personnel follows winemaking guidelines/provides instruction, training, assistance and feedback to cellar workers.
• Participate in periodic reviews and provide ongoing constructive feedback of job performance of cellar personnel.

Cellar Hands – Job Requirements
We are looking for people with the following attributes:
• A passion for wine and understanding of wine making process
• Prior winery experience would be of benefit but not essential
• Willingness to learn and follow procedures would be viewed favourably
• Strong communication, literacy and numeracy skills
• Excellent time management skills
• Ability to work under pressure, follow instructions and be part of a team
