Job Description
Wine Hospitality Manager
Berriedale and Coal River Valley, Tasmania

Following the purchase of Domaine A vineyard, Moorilla is looking for an experienced hospitality professional to join the team in this newly created position. Reporting to the Business Operations Manager, this varied role will ideally suit someone who is strong operationally, has experience in developing strategic direction and is confident in brand representation and VIP interactions.

The Gig:

You'll provide oversight and direction to the daily operations of both Moorilla and Domaine A Cellar Door venues. This means working closely with Cellar Door Supervisors to develop sales strategy and create and monitor budgets, as well as identifying knowledge gaps and providing educational opportunities for staff to improve sales and meet targets.

You'll also be responsible for positively influencing team culture - celebrating team performance, encouraging opportunities for positive and inclusive team engagement, and identifying personal development pathways are all crucial to achieving this.

We'll want to see your creative side as you work with Mona's in-house specialists (hospitality leaders, marketing, ticketing etc) to develop and market unique Cellar Door experiences that maintain Moorilla and Domaine A at the forefront of wine tourism. Think you'll have ideas that could include more than just Cellar Door? That's ideal, as we'll encourage any opportunity to collaborate, identify efficiencies and develop offerings that can include other Mona hospitality venues.

You're going to be a key player in representing our brands as you engage with various tourism bodies and attend events that require high-quality interpretation and guest interaction.

We're going to rely on your product knowledge to host familiarisations and tastings for media and VIP clients where you'll need to interpret and explain Moorilla, Domaine A and Moo Brew products, including how to present, cellar and match with food. Don't worry if you don't know it all right now, we'll look forward to improving your knowledge!

Have you got an instinct for the promotional side? Great. You'll have the opportunity to collaborate with the Business Operations Manager to facilitate winery and cellar door marketing, social media and PR strategy and execution.

And there's a bunch of core administrative tasks that you'll oversee and perform with Cellar Door Supervisors when necessary, such as developing and maintaining membership services, improving and implementing stock management procedures and providing tasting notes for new releases and museum release wines.

The You:

You've ideally gained experience from working in roles that included consistent VIP guest interactions, brand representation and a requirement to develop unique customer experiences.

Exceptional knowledge of wine products, coupled with the ability to articulately interpret and educate guests and staff is a must.

You're a natural leader and capable of mentoring and motivating a team. Ideally, you'll be capable of developing your key staff members to facilitate the autonomous operation of both Cellar Door venues.

You can recognise the brand position of Moorilla and Domaine A products and can use this knowledge to develop appropriate client experiences.

And you're an exceptional communicator, with the ability to engage confidently at the VIP level and to facilitate the development of new business relationships.

You're also a team player and will bring a positive and enthusiastic approach to all aspects of your work.

Does this sound like you? Then we’d love to get to know you. Please submit your application (specifically addressing why you're a great fit for this role) using the 'APPLY FOR JOB’ link above, or at

Applications close 9am Monday 20 August.

We produce cool-climate wines. The fruit is grown in our Tamar and Derwent Valley vineyards. Winery, vineyard, and cellar door on the site of MONA - the Museum of Old and New Art.

Moorilla winemaker, Conor van der Reest favours structural wines with new-world fruit and old-world complexity. His wines are crafted to reveal Moorilla’s terroir, a term that describes a vineyard’s singular sense of place—from its icy river breezes to its ancient soils to its long-ripening fruit—clarified by the hand of the winemaker and captured in liquid-form. Drink Moorilla and you drink the vineyard.
