Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Cellar Hand with proven management experience wanting to take the next step in their career. Founded by the late Robert (Bob) Oatley AO BEM in 2006, Robert Oatley Vineyards is a family owned winery led by his eldest son Sandy Oatley who with his father, brother and sister, planted the first Oatley vineyards in the late 1960’s.
Our wine brands, Robert Oatley, Finisterre, The Pennant, Wild Oats & Montrose. Consistently score over 90 points with the critics and have collected too many medals to detail, our wines resonated with the wine-loving public around Australia and the world. As Bob Oatley said ‘they must be a darned good drink.’
Job Requirements

Based in Mudgee NSW, the Cellar Hand Manager will be responsible for, but not limited too:

• Managing the Cellar Hand team to achieve all operational requirements including, grape receival, crushing, pressing, racking, transfers, additions, centrifuge, RDV, barrel work, cleaning, cross flow filtration.
• Coordinate the daily bottling start up / shut down to ensure all procedures and processes are followed in a safe and efficient manner.
• Manage the stock and inventory control and maintain accurate records
• Actively collaborate with the Winemakers to set strategic and operations goals for the cellar hand team.
• Coordinate staff training and encourage a positive workplace culture to maintain an environment that advocates teamwork and getting the job done.
• Manage the winery equipment to ensure all is in good working order to maintain high productivity.
• Develop and maintain SOP’s.
• Be actively involved in the sites HACCP and manage the winery QA functions as well as identify possible improvements.
• Maintain a safe work environment at all times, following the WHS policy & procedures in place and actively participate in monthly WHS committee meetings.
• Ad hoc duties and internal projects as required.

To be successful in the role you will have:
• Demonstrated 5 years Cellar Hand experience.
• Proven management experience.
• Clear communication skills both written and verbal.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• Well-developed analytical skills.
• A strong team player.
• Forklift licence (desirable but not essential).
