Job Description
Silkwood Estate is a boutique winery located in the Pemberton wine region of WA.
We are seeking a full-time Assistant Winemaker to join our small passionate team. Working closely with the winemaker/manager, you will be involved in;
• Assisting in the implementation of winemaking programs for our range of wines
• Working hands-on in carrying our day-to-day cellar and lab operations
• Quality control of all winemaking activities
• Blending and preparing wines for bottling
• Assist in public tastings and marketing activities where required
• Vineyard operations
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated, enthusiastic, passionate about wine, have a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills and ideally have the following qualities;
• Tertiary qualifications in Oenology or similar
• Current drivers and forklift licences
• At least 2 vintages’ experience in cellar operations
• Basic lab work experience
• Attention to detail
• Focus on hygiene and wine quality
• Knowledge and understanding of OH&S policies and procedures
• Experience with stock control and logistics
• Experience in vineyard operations and operate tractors is a bonus
This is a great opportunity to take your next step up in winemaking. This role will involve the entire process of winemaking from vineyard to bottle, the hands-on running of the cellar with a focus on quality and hygiene.
