Job Requirements
The role of the Cellar Hand is to ensure quality Wine/Cider production through the efficient execution of cellar operations under the direction of the Winemaker, Cellar Operations.
Key Accountabilities

Responsibility Area

Description
Cellar Operations
Active involvement in the execution of cellar operations and to reinforce the following:
• Standard Operating Procedures
• Cellar Operations Checklist
• Cellar fundamentals
• Accurate, legible, and timely record keeping processes

Cellar Operations will include:
• Performing vintage related tasks
• Performing tanker operations
• Transfers, rackings and additions
• Barrel operations
• Wine clarification and filtration
• Bottling line preparation
• Multifunction as required

Active participation in the Cellar Training Programme, which covers all of the tasks detailed in the cellar SOP's
• Coaching and Training (Lead Cellar Hand)
• Identify individual training needs
• Undertake training and coaching inline with the Cellar Training Programme
• Support vintage training
• Offer real time guidance and support
• Assist with workplace induction and training as required

Winery up-keep and hygiene
• Maintain general winery upkeep and cleanliness
• Maintain cellar hygiene to a high standard
• Undertake careful use o fequipment
• Report damage and faults as required

Teamwork and Collaboration
• Assist with creating a positive workplace environment.
• Exhibit positive collegial behaviours
• Foster teamwork, trust and collaboration
• Participate in structured workplace discussions

Administration
• Complete Cellar Operations Worksheets in a timely and accurate manner
• Complete accurate time and attendance records
• Ensure equipment logs are completed in an accurate
and timely manner
• Assist with stock takes as required

Health and Safety/ Sustainability
• Ensure the company is not exposed to unnecessary risks or costs associated with non-compliance
• Identify hazards and actions to eliminate, isolate or minimise on the hazard register
• Report any incidents or near misses in line with company procedures
• Employees must apply the principles of long term sustainability in all activities and endeavour to reduce, reuse and recycle resources in line with company policy

Key Requisites

Qualifications/ Experience
Mandatory:
• Certificate, Diploma, Degree in Oenology/ Winemaking (Lead Cellar Hand)
• Cellar experience
• Clean drivers licence
• Forklift licence
Preferred:
• Certificate, Diploma, Degree in Oenology/ Winemaking
• Cellar experience

Mandatory:
• Able to competently operate machinery and understand physical processes
• Attention to detail and able to accurately perform operations
• Able to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Fit and capable of performing physical work
• Literacy and numeracy skills
• Personal presentation and punctuality. Non smoker. •
