Job Description
The Henschke family has been making wine in the Barossa’s Eden Valley since 1868. Today, fifth-generation winemaker Stephen Henschke and his viticulturist wife Prue are recognised around the world for their exceptional quality wines, innovation, and sustainability in the vineyard. The Henschke winemaking tradition spans six generations, from vineyards in the Eden Valley, Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills.

This is a rare, fantastic opportunity for an experienced cellar hand to join our small but mighty team as Cellar Supervisor. If you have strong, direct experience in the cellar with a proven work history and enjoy managing a small team, then this job is for you! The 2025 vintage will be the first in our newly revamped state of the art facility, based at our historic winery in Keyneton, South Australia.

Job Requirements
Reporting to the Senior Winemaker, you will be responsible for the execution of all aspects of cellar operations as directed by the winemaking team, helping to ensure the creation of exceptional wines. The role and responsibilities of this position will include:
• Performing all aspects of cellar production work throughout the entire year and vintage cycle
• Assisting with cellar workflow planning and day-to-day job scheduling
• Supervision, direction and training of all permanent cellar staff and vintage casuals during harvest
• Implementing cellar SOPs and maintaining cellar hygiene standards
• Managing the late shift during vintage to winery close (between 10pm to midnight)

We want someone enthusiastic about the cellar. Someone keen to work with traditional winemaking methods, such as headed down concrete fermenters, alongside brand-new equipment (e.g. optical sorter) and processes. We are seeking a candidate with experience in active cellar work, and previous staff supervision of a small team is ideal. You will have a strong work ethic, a passion for excellence and a great drive for cellar work.

This is a Full-time permanent role based exclusively at the winery. Working hours are from 7am to 3:30pm Monday to Friday. During vintage hours are fluid, varying from 8 to 12-hour shifts, working six days a week. The Position Description is available upon request.
