About Our Client

Adelaide Hills Wine Region is a membership body established in 1988 which represents wineries, grape-growers and associated businesses in the Adelaide Hills. A not-for-profit body, it works with members to represent their collective interests, to grow brand equity to ensure long-term sustainability of the grape, wine and tourism industries in the region, and promote the Adelaide Hills brand locally, nationally and worldwide. It also provides up to date insight into viticulture conditions and runs training programs to up-skill members and ensure they reach their potential. With a clear strategy for increasing brand awareness of the association and its influence across the Australian wine sector, they are now seeking to appoint a passionate, imaginative and resourceful Executive Officer with a proven track record to successfully lead the association across its diverse range of activities as it embarks on the next phase of growth.

Job Description

Reporting to the Adelaide Hills Wine Region Board and in close collaboration with the President, you will be responsible for the implementation of the organisation’s Strategic Plan, responsible for a range of activities, both externally and internally focused, including policy, advocacy, education, professional development, certification, member services, communications, marketing, sponsorship, finance and administration. Delivery of many of these activities is through collaboration and coordination with staff, contractors, volunteers and industry stakeholders. Leading a small, but dedicated team the role is accountable for developing key relationships across the sector and targeted promotional, marketing, brand building activities, with a strong advocacy focus. Specifically, your responsibilities will include:

Driving/ Championing Brand Awareness

Job Requirements
The Successful Candidate

The ideal candidate will have high-level leadership skills and communication capabilities, adept at building relationships with multiple stakeholders. Your success to date has been built on a deep understanding of stakeholder diversity, managing competing agenda’s and dealing with ambiguity. With a recognised degree-level qualification in Oenology, Viticulture or Food Science discipline, it would be advantageous for the successful candidate to have practical leadership experience gained within the wine sector. You will need to have a demonstrated ability to plan, develop and implement advocacy initiatives that deliver optimal outcomes for the Association. In addition, you'll need a strong customer service orientation, sharp commercial acumen, heightened negotiation skills and a passion for teamwork. Coupled with your well-developed emotional and social intelligence capabilities, you have immediate gravitas, presence and the ability to build rapport in a consultative/ collaborative manner. With poise, respect and the credibility to deal with varying opinions, you will bring with you an impressive network of wine industry contacts, influencers and pathways to opinion-formers, where you have well-developed relationships.
