Job Description
Giant Steps, in the heart of the Yarra Valley, is seeking a Viticulture Manager to begin in May, 2020. This role will oversee a portfolio of owned, leased and grower vineyards.
Meticulous and relentless in its pursuit of quality, Giant Steps is admired at the elite level of wine around the world.

The role encompasses oversight of the viticulture team and growers, hands-on management of two key sites, plus financial, environmental and OH&S management of the entire viticulture side of the business.
Reporting to the Chief Winemaker, the role will involve light domestic travel plus some representation at promotional events.

Job Requirements
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Overall management of the viticulture team, including site managers at owned and leased vineyards;
• Hands-on operational management of two key company vineyards;
• Mentoring and professional development of entire viticulture team;
• Liaison with contract growers;
• Driving continuous improvement across all company viticulture for quality, sustainability and
longevity;
• Financial budgeting, forecasting, benchmarking and reporting for all viticulture operations;
• Implementation and coordination of long-term vineyard redevelopment;
• Coordination of harvest and fruit deliveries during vintage;
• Promotional work both in trade and hosting visitors at winery and vineyard sites.

Skills and Qualifications:
• Tertiary qualification in viticulture;
• At least three years’ relevant experience in high level viticulture
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel.

This is a viticulture role of the highest quality, with a remuneration package commensurate with the experience and drive required.
