Job Description
Established in 1980, Geoff Merrill Wines produce high quality dry red and dry white table wine with worldwide distribution. Working within the wine industry for over 40 years, Geoff is a wealth of experience, with previous accolades including the highly esteemed Jimmy Watson and Bushing King trophies.

Within the heritage buildings and vines of the historic Mount Hurtle winery in the Southern suburbs of Adelaide you’ll find the everyday operations of the close-knit Geoff Merrill team, including the renovated original winery and upgraded 1500m2 barrel maturation cellar.

The primary purpose of the Sales Manager is to build on and maintain existing relationships with key stakeholders to maximise sales growth for the Geoff Merrill brand. Proactively identifying new sales opportunities and developing ongoing, measurable strategies, our Sales Manager will maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through the provision of high-quality service. This role would be suited to a driven performance-based individual with key contacts in the wine industry.
Job Requirements
Key Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
• Driving wine sales for the Geoff Merrill Wine brand and sub brands by managing and building relationships and rapport with key stakeholders (requires intra and interstate travel)
• Maintain a working knowledge of Geoff Merrill Wines product range to be able to recommend and select products for customers based on their individual needs
• Collect specific information relevant for the purposes of pricing and supply.
• Develop and manage an integrated plan across online sales and cellar door
• Develop strategies for meeting and exceeding budgets
• Produce sales and market reports as required
• Set sales budgets with distributors and follow up monthly to ensure agreed sales, volume and profit are met
• Identifying and capitalising on local market opportunities to build sales and profitability
• Negotiating business agreements including product pricing and delivery
• Operational management of your customer base through calls, site visits and administration of customer orders and sales enquiries
• Assist in improving market position, brand awareness and social media presence in cooperation with marketing
• Disseminate product samples, information, and price lists to market
• Liaise with wine reviewers and press

Experience & Skills
• 5+ years experience in a sales-related role in a similar industry
• Experience with retailers and wholesale distributors in the domestic marketplace (Any experience with international sales and distribution may be an advantage)
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Proven track record of achieving sales targets
• Ability to manage existing relationships and attract new customers
• Ability to develop new customer opportunities and manage key accounts, be proactive in your approach and bring with you a ‘solution’ sales background.
• Ability to prioritise, multitask and meet changing deadlines and work well under pressure
• Demonstrate honesty and integrity in all interactions with customers
• Experience in the development and implementation of customer business plans
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop robust relationships quickly and deeply
• Proven success in negotiating commercially sound business agreements
• Ability to understand and apply market insights to sales planning
• Strong negotiation and influencing skills
• Competent command of Office software, email and database CRM systems

You will need to have a proven background in sales, while a genuine, honest and ethical approach to all facets of business and relationship management is imperative to succeeding at Geoff Merrill Wines.
