Job Description
In the heart of the Riverland, our Monash-based Contract Processing winery, offers the opportunity to work in a professional environment, while enjoying the benefits of a riverside location and a strong community atmosphere.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the successful applicant will be part of the Management Team and will lead a small group of winemakers, be responsible for the cellar operations, liaise with our supplier base and our contract processing clients.
The winery is highly efficient and mechanised, with a 20,000 tonne plus crush capability and storage for thirty three million litres of wine. Our client base varies in size from a few hundred tonnes to four thousand tonnes, in a mix of red and white wine varieties, grown largely in the Riverland area, but also brought from Vineyards as far as the Coonawarra, McLaren Vale and Clare.

This role will be hands on, diverse and pivotal to the ongoing success of the winery in bringing high quality wines to maturity. and will include:

Work with the General Manager and CEO to develop a focussed, Vintage Processing and Wine Storage program;
• Supervise receival and evaluation of fruit at intake ensuring grapes meet specified quality standards;
• Supervise key cellar and winemaking processes including crushing, pressing, clarification, fermentation and filtration;
Manage wine finishing processes, tasting ferments and adjusting as required to ensure contract client requirements are satisfied;
• Blending and final dispatch preparation, for client bottling projects or bulk dispatch and export;
• Evaluate winemaking procedures to maintain efficiency and quality parameters;
Provide technical input for winery capital projects;
Provide support for the cellar door staff;
Monitor winemaking trends and ensure that practices adopted are in line with industry best practice;

As this is an ongoing position, applicants must be eligible and have the right to work in Australia. Appropriate tertiary qualifications in wine science or equivalent are essential, together with a minimum of 5 years winemaking experience at a senior level, and have highly proficient computer skills with Vintrace experience an advantage.
