Job Description
Position Title: Tasting Room Manager
Location: The Lane Vineyard, Hahndorf
Position Type: Full Time
Salary: $75,000 + super + wine allowance
Rostered Days: Varied - over a 7 days
Reports To: Venue Manager
Key Relationships: Reservations & Administration Coordinator, Tasting Room Supervisor, Restaurant Manager, Wine Club Coordinator, Events & Experiences Manager

Overview

The Lane Vineyard Tasting Room is one of the most important parts of our business, and as the Tasting Room Manager you will be responsible for its ultimate success. You will be the friendly, welcoming face of our brand, forming and fostering long term, loyal relationships with our clientele and experience partners. Delivering the very best service day in day out to grow both wine sales and wine club members will be your target, exceeding expectations and budgets your success.


Key Responsibilities and Duties

General Duties / TR Operations

• Organise the effective & efficient operation of the Tasting Room and maintain primary responsibility for the successful execution of Tasting Room Experiences at The Lane Vineyard.
• Ensure all guests to the Tasting Room receive The Lane Vineyard experience of excellence
• Create and maintain excellent relationships with all customers
• Expediently and accurately process all direct orders to hand over to the dispatch team
• Maintain presentation & order of the Tasting Room at all times including current wine lists, tasting stock, glassware and collateral
• Nurture, and grow the Loyalty Rewards program through the tasting room

Leadership
• Oversee the entire ‘customer experience’ at the estate tasting room
• Oversee the team in Tasting Room, working in the most effective and cohesive way
• Oversee staff training, ensuring all Tasting Room team members are accurately and consistently on brand
• Oversee rostering for Tasting Room
• Appraise staff performance and provide feedback to improve productivity
• Respond efficiently and accurately to customer feedback
• Assist in building an educated, well trained, highly skilled team of Tasting Room professionals
• Communicate efficiently and effectively with the Venue Manager & Chefs as required
• Collaborate on strategic planning with other TLV staff to establish departmental goals, develop sales materials, brand presence and promotions to increase sales.
• Identify, compare and benchmark our products and services with that of potential competitive products
• Maintain awareness and communicate activities of competing venues/destinations and trends in the industry to The Lane Vineyard leadership team.
• Assume responsibility for the Tasting Room in the absence of the Venue Manager
• Complete end of month reports to update the management team on Tasting Room and estate based Wine Club sales/sign ups


Gathering Club and Wine Sales
• Grow Tasting Room patronage and ultimately wine sales, meeting required budgets
• Nurture, develop and ultimately convert customers into club members, meeting required budgets
• Assist the Gathering Club Coordinator to foster and build strong relationships with all Gathering Club members
• Process transactions with care and attention to the correct price, department & revenue area as per company policy
• Track Tasting Room team member sign-up targets per week to manage the Gathering Club employee sign-up bonus program each month
• Accurately reconcile daily sales & provide all necessary reports to the relevant managers
• Ensure database signup targets are met (Friends of the Lane)

• Sales per Tasting Room visitor (AOV)
• Positive feedback both in person and via online reviews
