Job Description
Yering Station, one of the Yarra Valley’s most iconic and established wineries, is seeking a motivated and reliable Vineyard Operator & Gardener to join our small and dedicated Vineyard team in a permanent, full-time role.
This position is a split role between our five vineyard sites and our multiple acres of gardens.
This is an exciting hands-on role with the opportunity to produce high-quality fruit from our five Vineyards in the Yarra Valley. The five sites consist of 12 varieties but predominantly Pinot, Chardonnay and Shiraz are grown.
Job Requirements
About the Role:
This outdoor and hands on role involves all aspects of vineyard maintenance, some machinery operation, and general garden work. Forklift license and previous tractor driving, garden equipment experience is an advantage.
The successful applicant will work as part of a small dynamic team and will be required to work on a 5 day/week basis with some extra hours required during spraying and harvesting operations while also maintaining the stunning gardens.
Job Requirements:
Duties
• Soil preparation, irrigation and trellising
• Pruning of vines and various shrubs and trees
• Grape harvesting
• Chemical application
• Operating tractors, spray equipment, mowers, hedge trimmers and other garden machinery and equipment
• General maintenance
Skills & Experience
• Chemical accreditation or similar or willingness to obtain
• Trellising skills
• Knowledge of irrigation systems
• Knowledge of pest, disease and weed control
• Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety procedures
• Experience in maintaining tractors, small engines etc.
• Current manual drivers’ license
Reporting directly to the Chief Viticulturist, the successful applicant will be hard working; reliable; self-motivated; have good communication, leadership and presentation skills, and be capable of working autonomously or in a small team.
A remuneration package will be offered to the successful applicant, commensurate with experience and commitment.
