Long Gully Estate was established in 1982, due to the enormous potential for the property to produce top quality grapes. The initial planting was a total of only 2.2 hectares consisting of Riesling, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Further plantings over the ensuing years added Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Viognier eventually bringing the total plantings to nearly 30 hectares.
Long Gully Estate grew to become one of the larger ‘boutique vineyards’ in the Yarra Valley, building their own on-site wine making facility and crushing around 200 tons of grapes every vintage.
