Job Description
Norfolk Rise Vineyard is located at Mount Benson (near Robe) in South Australia and is a well equipped, state of the art wine making facility, custom built in 2001. Norfolk Rise Vineyard is a premium producer of cool climate wines processing 700 tonnes from our Estate vineyards annually. We are currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic person to join our team for the 2020 vintage with the potential for ongoing employment for the right candidate.
Commencing immediately the Vintage Assistant Winemaker will report to the Winemaker and will be involved in all aspects of the vintage. Some exposure to cellar and vineyard duties during harvest will add variety to this position.
General duties include:
• Working in a small team to ensure smooth operation of vintage processing
• Assisting with the accurate maintenance of the winery database (Ezywine) and cellar work notes as requested
• Providing support for the cellar and vineyard team
• Norfolk Rise is a small company and all employees need to have the flexibility to perform other duties from time to time
Job Requirements
Ideally we are seeking a person with a qualification in Oenology who also has a passion for cool climate winemaking.
Ideal candidates will possess the following skills, experience and characteristics:
• 3+ years winery experience in a similar role
• Good knowledge of excel spreadsheets and reporting
• Strong understanding of winery costs
• Self motivated with a positive attitude and great work ethic
• Attention to detail
• A quality approach
• An ability to work in a small team environment or independently with minimal supervision
• A supportive and cooperative approach to fellow staff and management
• Forklift licence and Confined Space Entry training are desirable although not essential
• The ability to work extended hours as required
