Job Description
Established in 1997, West Cape Howe Wines (WCHW) is a privately owned, Halliday 5 Red Star rated, premium wine producer in Mount Barker, WA. The well-equipped winery crushes approx 4,000t annually, producing approx. 65,000cs branded wines in addition to contract-produced wines.

The company’s international reputation is based on grapes grown on its 800ha vineyards located in the desirable Mount Barker, Frankland River and Margaret River regions. In addition to their highly acclaimed Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling, WCHW produces a very wide range of varietal wines including Pinot Noir, Tempranillo, Fiano, etc.

The Winemaker role is a key leadership position in the West Cape Howe Wines winemaking team. Primary responsibilities include ensuring implementation of all winemaking tasks; maintaining and improving wine quality; managing cellar personnel in the production and bottling of quality packaged and contract wine
Job Requirements
The successful applicant will have:
• A passion for winemaking backed by strong technical skills and a precise attention to detail.
• Degree in Oenology and at least 4 years winemaking experience in a premium winery, including having held leadership positions in winery operations.
• The ability to co-ordinate all cellar operations from grape intake through to pre-bottling.
• Commitment to safety, environmental and quality control systems.
• Computer literacy with experience in winemaking systems (Ezywine would be considered an advantage but not essential).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Problem solving skills together with strong commercial acumen with budgeting skills.
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency/work visa status.

The winery is located in the pristine Mt Barker region, 40 mins from Albany.
